About Me

"I was born to be a teacher. I was born to impact and inspire lifelong learners to make a significance in this world."

My heart beats for teaching children. I carry in my DNA the passion for educating children to help them learn, grow, and achieve their full potential. When I was young, I gathered some of my younger neighbours, including my sister, and pretended to be their teacher. During weekends, our sala would be transformed into a classroom, our wooden door would be our board, and my dear students would be sitting on the floor.  Chalk, paper, books, and pens were my daily companions, aside from my family and friends. This act was developed into my habit. My habit became my character. My character finally became my destiny. I chased my dream to be a teacher, and I never let go of it.

In March 2006, I finished my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education Specialised in Early Childhood. A few months later, I immediately took a short-term course as a 'Caregiver.' My entire experience in the programme gave me a solid foundation in child care, housekeeping, home safety, good hygiene, and medical care. I enjoyed my "on-the-job" training in an orphanage and discovered that I have a stronger natural affinity for children. I was not only able to share with them my gift for teaching, but I also extended to them the care and love of a family caregiver. This experience was life-changing for me.

In December 2006, I took up my first teaching job as a kindergarten teacher at Leah S. De Leon Child Study Centre. My educational background and caregiving skills helped me a lot to better understand my role as a teacher and meet the needs of my students. I taught basic subjects such as Maths, English, Science, Art, Filipino, Writing, and Good Morals. My first hands-on experience inside my own, real classroom with real students gave me one and a half years of joy and challenges in my teaching journey.

In May 2008, I arrived in Denmark for a cultural exchange programme. I had the most incredible chance to become fully immersed in a different culture and country. I lived with my host family and took care of two adorable boys. I studied the culture, language, and everything else that had to do with Danish society. In exchange, I also shared my culture with my host family, and taught the boys English and other necessary skills. I travelled and visited countries in Europe. When I was an au pair, I continued my passion for teaching by volunteering as a Sunday School teacher at Kobenhavns Kulturcenter Kirken (KATSJ). I used Danish and English as mediums to teach children from different nations. This experience expanded my horizons and my understanding of cultural differences and diversity.

In October 2010, I landed in Thailand and worked as a Teacher Assistant and an Early Years Foundation teacher at the International School of Chonburi. I worked at this school for 11 years. In 2011, I was an Early Years 1 teacher and worked with children from 2 to 3 years old. Then, I moved and worked with children ages 3 to 4 years old up until June 2021. Teaching children from ages 2 to 4 requires a lot of energy, patience, creativity, flexibility, and love. Being a teacher of a multicultural class gave me the opportunity to learn about their needs, attitudes, and typical age-related behaviour. To ensure learning and meet the unique needs of each student in my class, I was able to develop a variety of age-appropriate teaching strategies and instructional techniques.

In 2021, in the hype of the Covid pandemic, the school where I had worked for 11 years laid me off. I made the decision to start my own "Bubble Class" in order to support my family and pursue my passion for teaching. During the course of the seven-month programme, I met daily with a small class of mixed children ages 4-6. It was a memorable yet challenging experience for my teaching career. In February 2021-, despite the threats of Covid, I accepted a short-term job as a Foundation Stage 1 teacher at Garden International School in Rayong, Thailand.

In July 2021, my family and I moved to Vietnam and worked as a Cambridge Stage 1 teacher at Vinschool. I was ecstatic to embark on a new teaching journey and experience new locations, environments, colleagues, and students. It was rewarding to see my students develop, evolve, and equip themselves for greater knowledge and challenges.

Presently, I work as a Substitute teacher at Oslo International School. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to pursue my passion for teaching in a stunning country with wonderful individuals. I love what I do. It brings immense joy to my heart to know that the students in my class look forward to each day of class and that their parents and the OIS have faith in my ability to teach and take good care of their children.
